Research Information and Consent Forms

Dr Brick and Dr Leigh both undertake continuing study of patient outcomes following surgery. The purpose of this is to learn more about the best treatments for orthopaedic conditions – to help us to a better job of treating patients. It also helps the surgeons to follow your individual progress with pain and functioning following surgery. Sometimes, the information we collect may be of wider medical interest and so fully anonymised data may be published in the scientific literature or presented at medical conferences. There is no way to identify any individual from this, and your data will be kept entirely confidential at all times.

If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete questionnaires about your pain and disability before and after surgery, and to release medical information relating to your surgical treatment and care. For full information on what this involves and to sign the consent form, please download the participant information sheet below. The consent form is on the final two pages of the information sheet. This research is “observational” and does not alter the care you receive in any way.
